Ken joined Waddell & Reed in 1980 as a Financial Advisor after 10 years of being a high school Math teacher and coach, which he believes prepared him well for the task of mentoring Financial Advisors to succeed.
In 1990, Ken was named the Managing Principal for the Salina Division Office. Growing the Salina division in his 26+ years proves his philosophy of “surrounding yourself with great people leads to success”.
Ken was awarded the Company Seven Cs Award in 2016, presented to one Manager/Advisor selected by his peers and Home Office. The award is presented annually at the company meeting, and signifies the person who displays the 7 characteristics of Client Centered, Character, Commitment, Convergence, Creation, Competiveness, and Comradery.
In 2017, Ken was named as the Market Leader of the Kansas Complex. Ken has been an active community volunteer, working with numerous youth organizations, YMCA, church Finance committee and Church Council, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and currently is Chairman of the Endowment Board for Kansas Wesleyan University.
Ken and his wife Karen, have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. His hobbies include watching sporting events, going to Las Vegas and spending time with the kids and grandkids.
